Giustini / Stagetti is delighted to present "M.A.D.", Marie-Anne Derville's first exclusive furniture collection. The event will take place at Galerie Xavier Eeckhout, the leading specialist in early 20th-century animal statuary.

On this occasion, designer Marie-Anne Derville will also showcase her curatorial skills, arranging the exhibition layout and selecting historical Italian and French objects on display.

This project represents a unique convergence of her creative talent and curatorial sensibility, highlighting the historical heritage of Italy and France and the continuous dialogue between past and present.

Derville’s imagination embraces contrasting elements such as gloss and matte, black and white, seeking a balance between classic elegance and radical rigor.

The sophisticated aesthetics of her furniture and interiors pay homage to the formal equilibrium and timeless spirit of renowned past designers like Josef Hoffmann and Jean-Michel Frank. Simultaneously, her work draws inspiration from unexpected combinations and the ongoing quest for originality, characteristic of the irreverent and groundbreaking aesthetics of the 80s and 90s, from Andrée Putman to Bob Wilson. Another significant influence is the "Swedish Grace" movement, flourishing in the 1 920s in Sweden and related to French Art Deco, known for its elegantly minimalist style and considered the foundation of modern Scandinavian design.

Marie-Anne Derville continually pays homage to the cinematic works of her favorite directors, ranging from Michelangelo Antonioni to David Lynch and Luis Bunuel.

The collection, presented for the first time at this event, is distinguished by its androgynous nature and refined, sporty yet informal chic spirit, featuring a writing desk, three side tables, one coffee table, an armchair, a chair, and a lamp crafted from lacquered wood, burl wood, metal, fabric, and resin.

Accompanying Derville's furniture are historical objects, including glassware, ceramics, and silverware by Italian masters Carlo Scarpa, Guido Gambone, and Luigi Genazzi. These works have been carefully chosen to foster new narratives and perspectives by juxtaposing different eras - the past and the present - thereby illuminating the continuity and evolution in the history of design, underscored by stylistic connections and innovation.
