In its third edition, Contemporanea - Roma Gallery Weekend is an initiative conceived and organized by contemporary art galleries active in Rome, with the goal of recording, mapping, and enhancing the artistic vibrancy that characterizes the city.
The project takes its name from the groundbreaking exhibition curated by Achille Bonito Oliva in 1973 at the Villa Borghese parking lot, which for the first time highlighted the vitality of art beyond traditional canons, creating a dialogue between artists and the public in an unexpected urban setting. Fifty years later, Rome's art galleries have embraced this narrative to reposition Rome at the center of the international cultural landscape.
