Umberto Riva (Milan, 1928 – Palermo, 2021) was an Italian architect and designer. He graduated in architecture from Venice in 1959 and began his career in Milan in 1960. His work spanned urban planning, buildings, interiors, and furniture design. Notable projects include houses in Stintino (1960) and Osmate (1975), the school in Faedis (1977), and Piazza San Nazaro in Milan (1989-1992). His interior projects include Casa Frea (1983) and the renovation of Caffè Pedrocchi (1994-1998). Riva’s work was exhibited internationally, including at the Paris Biennial and La Triennale di Milano. He received multiple awards, including the Gold Medal for Italian Architecture.
