Gino Sarfatti (Venice, 1912 - Griante, 1985) initially studied Aeronautical Engineering before shifting to lighting design. In 1938, he founded his own lighting company, Arteluce, which became renowned for its innovative designs. Sarfatti’s work was showcased in major exhibitions, including the Triennale in Milan, and won the Compasso d’Oro in 1954. In 1962, Arteluce moved to a new store designed by Vittoriano Viganò. Sarfatti sold the company to Flos in 1973 and retired to Lake Como. His legacy endures through his influential lighting designs and contributions to Italian modernism.
